There are 600 comfortable first class guest rooms in the Hotel Monteleone. It's the perfect place to come back to and rejuvenate from a busy day or night exploring the consummate pleasures of New Orleans.

And what a history these guest rooms have! The Hotel Monteleone has long been the home to some of the city's, and the world's, most famous and colorful characters. Tennessee Williams, William Faulkner and Truman Capote called it home as well as countless movie stars, dignitaries, royalty and political kingpins.

Just beyond our doors lie a myriad of dining and touring pleasures ranging from Arnaud's to Galatoire's and Brennan's, to the Aquarium of the America's and the IMAX Theater.

As a guest of the Hotel Monteleone, you'll be assured of the finest in classic furnishings, friendly, discreet service and your own personal retreat in the historic French Quarter.

For sunning, swimming, and fitness, look to the rooftop for New Orleans' first skyside pool and fitness center. Ride an exercise bike as you watch the mighty Mississippi far below you. Work on your tanline or swim laps in our year-round heated pool.

The front of the hotel is dramatically lit at night, showing off the dramatic sculptured architecture

People waited outside the front door for taxis, shuttles or buses - depending on their destination

A view as you walked in the front door of the Hotel, which was down 4-5 steps from the desk level.

A view looking up at the ceiling in the Lobby, above the chandelier

A view down the hall to the left - the front desk is not shown but is on the right of the concierges desk in the right side of this picture

The room I had was on the 15th floor, which did shield me from the nightlife when I was trying to sleep - for the most part anyway.  This room had two double beds which were very comfortable.

<- A view looking at the ceiling while laying on the bed.

The phone charges were outrageous and 800 number calls were 75 cents for the first 15 minutes and 10 cents every minute thereafter ->

The room contained a mini-bar which was also outrageous!!!  The best part was that at the conference provided free sodas, so you could take hot sodas and trade them out with the mini-bar for a cold one instead of paying $2 each.

The bath was small but adequate with marble floor and walls.

Due to the late hour of my arrival (alone) and not wanting to go out to eat, I ordered room-service the first night - Excellent food.

One evening I couldn't resist going up to the roof to grab a few sunset photos

The pool is also located up on the roof - very nicely done

A few pictures of the streets below and building surrounding the hotel - Nawlins isn't a "clean-looking" place for sure but it does have lots of history!
