Various maps that I

The purpose for the
trip - Technical Conference started on Tuesday running thru Saturday PM.

The
French Quarter
Showcases more than 500 local musicians and 40 restaurants
and includes second line parades, children’s activities and fireworks
during this Festival time. We were lucky enough that the
dates for the Conference were during the French Quarter Festival.

This is where I
stayed for the week - excellent choice - 1 block off Bourbon Street,
within walking distance to the Conference Center.
Since 1886, the
Hotel Monteleone has proudly stood as one of the first landmarks you
encounter in the French Quarter. And now the Hotel
Monteleone sparkles anew once again as one of the glowing symbols of the
French Quarter. The French Quarter begins in the lobby of
the Hotel Monteleone...

Wednesday Night |
Located in the heart of the New Orleans
French Quarter, Muriel's Jackson Square embodies the disparate moods and
textures of the seductive Crescent City, and invites guests to indulge in
a provocative experience that exceeds the thrill of traditional dining
out.
Microsoft treated the
attendees of the Executive Conference to a really great evening here,
complete with all the food and drink you could possibly enjoy but topped
off with good cigars and a nice gift bag. We dined on the balcony in
the great evening atmosphere of Nawlins. I didn't take additional
pictures inside - sorry. |

I personally
prefer coffee and donuts for a breakfast, but was no better way to start off a walking tour of the Quarter than with
beignets and a good cup of their unique coffee. Stacy
suggested this place and it was a nice treat to the Nawlins atmosphere. Grab yourself a
table! It's first come first served at Cafe du Monde. Open twenty four
hours a day, Cafe du Monde is a popular late night spot. Of course,
mornings and nights can blur together in New Orleans.
Cafe du Monde
sells delicious cafe au lait (pronounced Ca-Fay-O-Lay) which is made from
steamed milk, coffee and chicory, beignets (pronounced "Ben-Yay") - which
are french donuts drowned in powdered sugar and are quite tasty, hot
chocolate, and an ambience not found anywhere else in the world!

This was our
Saturday Night choice. Mike Anderson's Seafood Restaurant serves
delicious South Louisiana Seafood in a casual, friendly atmosphere to
local New Orleanians and visitors from all over the world. We use the
freshest jumbo lump crabmeat, gulf shrimp, pond-raised catfish, salty
oysters and spillway crawfish available.
Our Bourbon street restaurant is located in a two hundred-year old
building in the heart of the historic French Quarter.

We had tickets to
go here on Friday night but never made it.
Comfortable, with a
reliably great line-up, this is New Orleans' ultimate venue for any kind
of music (although some rather cynical locals used to a more laid-back
French Quarter sometimes refer to the place as the "House of Rules"
because of its no-nonsense policy towards overt rowdiness). The bathroom
attendants are delightful, there's lots of merchandising, the art
collection is enchanting and the restaurant serves the best food to be
found in any Crescent City music joint. On Sundays, there are great
gospel brunches.
